If you watch interviews with NMN expert Dr. David Sinclair, you’ll find he often discusses his breakfast routine (see below). What about NR expert Dr. Charles Brenner (FAQs)? Well, typically, his mantra on breakfast is “you do you”. But, earlier this week, we finally got more details.
Let’s first take a look at what Dr. Sinclair says he eats for breakfast with his NMN.
DR. David Sinclair’s breakfast (@ the 30:10 mark below):
“And so what I’ve done in my life…
Let’s just use me as an example of an average human being — because I’m pretty lazy and I’m not that driven (sarcasm).
I prefer to take a pill, which is not the right thing.
What I started out in my life was not to eat breakfast.
And pretty much been doing that since I was a teenager.
And that for me works — because I’m not really hungry in the morning.
I have a cup of tea or a cup of coffee.
And I still do that.
A little bit of yogurt to mix my supplements with (NMN), to dissolve them.
HOST:
“…the amount of yogurt that you put into your little bowl is really minimal. It’s basically just a couple of spoons.
DR. David Sinclair:
“Yeah.
That’s it.
And that’s burnt off in 15 minutes.
So it’s not going to be a big deal for the rest of the day.
And I try not to eat at all until dinner”
DR. Charles Brenner’s breakfast (@ the 28:51 mark below):
HOST:
“What’s a good breakfast in your view?
DR. Charles Brenner:
“You do you.
To me, getting into diet specificity is a morass.
It’s a personal choice.
It relates to how much physical activity people have; what their personal belief systems are; whether they eat meat; whether they don’t eat meat.
And, so, I don’t feel the need to give recommendations of what people’s breakfast should be.
Personally…
I get up.
I have espresso — more than one.
I take Niagen (Nicotinamide Riboside “NR” (FAQs) (Anecdotes)).
And, sometimes I have eggs.
Sometimes I have cereal.
Sometimes I have leftovers.
That’s me being me.
And, when I have breakfast, I can focus, and function, and do all of the things that I want to do.
If I’m doing a really hard workout in the morning, I have breakfast after my workout.
But I don’t feel the need to tell people exactly what angle the sun should be when they take their walk, or exactly how many calories they should have for their breakfast.
That’s just not my bag”
