According to NAD+ expert Dr. Charles Brenner (FAQs), NAD+ booster Nicotinamide Riboside “NR” (FAQs) (Anecdotes) is particularly remarkable because of its many use cases. At a longevity conference last year, he explained in detail:

At the 43:50 mark of the video embedded below:

DR. BRENNER:

“The use cases of Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) are varied because NAD comes under attack in so many conditions.

And, because the NR gene pathway, the Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) kinase genes, they get turned up transcriptionally when NAD comes under attack.

So, for example in the heart failure model, NAD comes under attack.

There’s a bioenergetic crisis in the failing heart.

AMP kinase is turned on, and that turns on the Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) kinase II gene which makes NR protective for those mice.

And that’s the reason why there’s NR clinical trials for human heart failure.

And the clinical trial that I would like to see is wound healing.

So, if you were to make little scratches OR abrasions OR very mild burns in, let’s say, 25 year old men and women, and 65 year old year old men and women, you’d see the healing would take a longer time in older people.

And what you’d like to see is that you could improve the rate and the rapidity and the thoroughness of the healing process by boosting with a safe compound like Nicotinamide Riboside (NR)”
