A common question consumers have is how much Nicotinamide Riboside “NR” (FAQs) (Anecdotes) to take daily. During an appearance on “The Story of a Brand” podcast, Chromadex (sellers of NR) CEO Rob Fried offered the following:

At the 53:25 mark of the podcast embedded below:

HOST:

“Why do you take 1000 mgs of NR?

CEO Fried:

“I do.

I take 3 capsules a day — although now we just came out with this 1000 mg dose which is really 2 capsules.

But, the reason why I do, is we now have all these studies that have come out over these years.

In the beginning, those studies were on low doses — 100 mg, 300 mg, then 1000 mg.

Now, the studies coming out are on 1000 mg.

And we just published one at 3000 mg.

There was a really nice study in Nature Communications on Parkinson’s patients that showed a very statistically significant benefit.

And there’s a measurement called the MDS measurement, which is a measure of motor and non-motor function for Parkinson’s people.

And they took 3 grams a day for 12 weeks.

And they showed a noticeable difference at 3 grams.

Mostly, those showed that it (NR) was safe — that, 3 grams a day is safe.

So, that’s a high dose, 3 grams a day.

I don’t really know anyone that’s taking that much.

But, most of the people that work at the company are taking around 1 gram.

Some people, especially people who are a little younger — they’re taking like 600 mgs.

And then they elevate it when they’re feeling something — they’re coming down with something OR I hurt my ankle or something OR they’re healing from something OR they’re feeling tired OR they travel across country and they didn’t get enough sleep.

They up their dose.

They take more then.

So, that’s the reason why I take a gram.

And I noticed a difference.

When I increased the dose, I noticed a difference”
