Chromadex CEO Rob Fried joined The Big Biz Show for the second time in a month to discuss Nicotinamide Riboside “NR” (FAQs) (Reviews), COVID studies, and frequently asked questions from NR consumers. Key quotes:
Chromadex CEO Rob Fried:
“We make this ingredient Niagen.
Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) is the science name.
At this point, if people aren’t taking TRU Niagen they just haven’t been paying attention.
We haven’t seen a dietary supplement like TRU Niagen come on the market in several decades.
You probably have to go back to Omega-3 before you see something as researched as Nicotinamide Riboside (NR).
And what we’ve shown in dozens of pre-clinical studies, 11 clinical studies, and another 45 clinical studies that are ongoing right now — is that when you take TRU Niagen it elevates a coenzyme called Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide, N.A.D.
NAD has been known for nearly a century as being a coenzyme that is vital to all important metabolic processes inside the cell.
And NAD declines with age, and under stress.
If you elevate NAD levels in the cell, the cell will become stronger, it becomes better equipped to deal with physiological stress, and it becomes better equipped to produce actual energy — what we call “mitochondrial functioning”.
As you get older you have less energy production, you’re less equipped to ward off the physiological stresses that we experience.
But if you elevate NAD levels it improves that ability.
So, essentially you have younger, stronger cells if you elevate NAD.
And TRU Niagen is the best and safest way to elevate NAD.
So people should be taking this”
When should you take it?
“What really matters is to take it the same time every day.
Why?
Because NAD is very involved in circadian rhythms.
Another thing that happens as you get older is you lose sleep, you sleep less deeply, less consistently.
That’s what they call circadian rhythms and it’s related to NAD.
So if you take TRU Niagen for a period of time you’re going to end up finding more consistent sleep, deeper sleep.
Most people dream more when they take TRU Niagen”
Is it possible TRU Niagen helped my knee recover?
“It’s completely possible.
(NOTE: Fried believes NR helped him recover from a knee injury suffered while skiing. See HERE.)
We’ve already shown in many studies that it reduces key inflammation markers — including the big one: IL-6″
What if I took a whole bottle of TRU Niagen at once?
“Most of us take way more than 3 (capsules) at a time, frankly.
The 300mg, 1 capsule a day, is what the FDA recommends as safe.
But multiple studies that have been published already — most of the time it’s 1 gram or 2 grams.
So, the COVID study that was made public a few weeks ago out of Turkey — they were given 2 grams a day.
2 grams a day — that would be 7 capsules a day”
Tell us about the COVID-19 study in Turkey.
“They’re halfway into a Phase 3 study presently — and we’re in discussions with several institutions about follow up studies.
We’re doing one with the NIAID — that’s Anthony Fauci’s infectious disease Colorado lab. We’re doing a study with them as well.
What we understand is that when a virus — not just a Coronavirus — but any virus attaches to a cell the NAD levels immediately decline.
Why is that?
Because the cell is trying to fight off / ward off the virus.
And if the virus actually penetrates the cell you want to keep it from replicating.
That process requires lots of NAD.
What we’ve shown is that by elevating NAD levels by taking TRU Niagen it’s protective against viruses, specifically the Coronavirus.
So, in Turkey they studied 100 hospitalized symptomatic patients.
And they showed that those who took a cocktail of dietary supplements including TRU Niagen recovered — became asymptomatic 30% quicker”
(NOTE: Dr. Charles Brenner (discoverer of NR as an NAD boosting vitamin) believes NR was the driver of the beneficial effects in study participants. See HERE.)
What do the next 18 months look like for you guys?
“We recently received EFSA approval — European Food Safety Authority approval.
So we’re rolling out into Europe.
We also received approval in Australia. So we’re now starting to sell into Australia.
We’re also selling in Canada.
We sell very well into Hong Kong and Singapore through our partners Watsons which is a retail chain in those regions.
And we’re beginning to sell cross-border into Japan and China.
So, going global is a big deal for us.
And then of course continuing to spread the word here in the United States.”
