Last week, Dr. Noelle Reid, a family physician and founder of Trinity Health and Wellness Medical Group joined the NutraCast Podcast (embedded below) to build awareness for Nestlé Health’s new initiative “Age-Associated Cellular Decline” and its related Celltrient brand. While Dr Reid is compensated for her role as a consulting physician for Nestlé’s Celltrient, she clearly understands and appreciates the importance of Nicotinamide Riboside “NR” (FAQs) (Reviews). The following are key podcast quotes.
Explaining Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) and NAD:
“Cellular nutrients that have been well tested and studied would include Nicotinamide Riboside (NR)….
…these are key nutrients that can be added to one’s daily intake to improve upon mitochondrial function and thus cellular function.
Celltrient is a new range of supplements and nutritional beverages formulated specifically with target cellular nutrients — as I mentioned prior, Nicotinamide Riboside (NR)…. — that help to fight key sources of age associated cellular decline and promote cellular health.
There’s 3 products — that being Cellular Energy, Cellular Strength, Cellular Protect — which all help to address the cellular changes that can lead to mitochondrial decline and thus decline in cellular function.
And, if I can, just briefly describe each line…
Cellular Energy actually contains Nicotinamide Riboside (NR).
Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) is a B3 derivative.
It’s a unique form of B3 or Niacin.
Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) actually helps to boost NAD.
NAD stands for Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide — which is an essential metabolyte that’s found in every cell in the body — and is necessary for proper cellular metabolism and mitochondrial function.
Studies have shown that as we age NAD declines by as much as 50% between ages 40 and 60. And that then impairs mitochondrial function and overall cellular production.
But, studies have also shown that when we supplement with Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) — which is also a precursor for NAD — this can increase the levels of NAD intracellularly in as soon as 2 weeks — thus improving mitochondrial function and overall cellular metabolism.
So, that’s Celltrient Energy.”
What are you doing to balance family and work during these challenging times?
“You know, actually, I started taking Celltrient.
I’m 43 now.
So, I’m in that age range where cellular health declines.
I did notice that my energy levels were not where I wanted them to be.
…but I started taking Celltrient Energy to help give me a bit of a boost because I was noticing — I’m doing my downward dogs every day, I’m eating what I’m supposed to be eating, but I’m still a little sluggish.
But I started taking Celltrient Cellular Energy and I did feel a boost.
So, that’s one little extra tool to have in my pocket that’s been rather helpful.”
