This is one of the most common questions people have about NAD+ booster Nicotinamide Riboside “NR” (FAQs) (Anecdotes). There’s the FDA recommended dose, but many people take more. Here’s what Dr. Charles Brenner (FAQs) said in an interview last week:
At the 59:30 mark (video embedded below):
HOST:
“The next question is regarding the dosage.
What amounts of NR should we be taking daily in milligrams?
DR. CHARLES BRENNER:
“So, I believe that there is a use case for oral Nicotinamide Riboside.
As you’ve seen from my seminar, tissues like the liver can make NAD from tryptophan.
But in many of these conditions of metabolic stress, many of which are inevitable like oxygen and sunlight, our NAD system comes under attack.
Our data show that even at 100 milligrams there’s some noticeable rise in blood NAD.
Tissue NAD is harder to quantify because people aren’t going around and donating pieces of their brains.
But clinical trials are largely being done at a gram of Nicotinamide Riboside per day.
Oral supplementation, the typical consumer dose is 300 milligrams.
But, there are professional athletes and certainly people in clinical trials that take higher doses like a gram per day”
